Youth Support Specialist

Role Summary:
The Youth Support Specialist is tasked with the critical responsibility of guiding and overseeing the adolescents in our program. The primary focus is to foster positive behavior by imparting essential social, self-care, academic, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and oversight of all youth in alignment with operational and contractual standards.
- Act as a mentor and positive influence for the youth enrolled in the program.
- Prevent and manage conflicts and incidents among youth, utilizing state-approved intervention techniques.
- Effectively implement the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and constructive feedback to the youth.
- Guide and support youth in developing personal accountability, social interactions, community living skills, communication abilities, and behavioral improvement.
- During overnight shifts:
- Supervise youth during quiet and sleeping periods.
- Conduct regular bed checks as per the established schedule.
- Complete all necessary shift documentation accurately.
- Promptly inform management of any issues or incidents.
- Relay pertinent information to team members and supervisors as needed.
- Prepare incident, accident, and behavioral reports following standard operating procedures.
- Document and review necessary notes in the Shift Log.
- Ensure timely communication of essential information to team members during shift changes.
- Maintain compliance of the facility, equipment, and supplies with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Educate youth on the proper maintenance of equipment to meet compliance standards.
- Keep a log of repairs and maintenance, along with an inventory of related equipment.
- Participate in and maintain CPR and First Aid certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies according to national standards.
- Attend and uphold appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as required by state and contractual obligations.
- Engage in day trips and special activities that include recreational sports, facility upkeep, and equipment management.
- Transport youth and may drive for other work-related responsibilities.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (preferred degree).
- At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or youth service environment, particularly with at-risk youth.
