About the Opportunity

Merrick & Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineering student to join our team as a paid summer intern. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of structural engineering and work on real client projects.

The summer internship will provide a comprehensive learning experience, exposing you to a variety of structural engineering tasks, including steel and concrete design, foundation design, structural drafting & detailing, gravity load analysis, and lateral load analysis of buildings and other structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality projects
  • Interface with clients and contractors to ensure project requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budget commitments
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders through written and oral reports
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled and entering junior year of undergraduate degree or higher
  • Pursuing an engineering degree in Civil (with structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering at an ABET accredited program
  • Completed basic statics and mechanics of materials coursework
  • U.S. Citizenship required for client projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of finite element analysis software programs
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit
  • Introductory coursework in structural analysis and steel or concrete design
  • Local candidates preferred
