Job Summary

As a Cashier, you'll be responsible for consistently providing friendly and cooperative service to internal and external customers at our retail locations. This includes processing customer orders in an efficient, accurate, safe, and courteous manner at a two-aisle check stand, a multi-station self-checkout (SCO) lane, or customer service desk as assigned.



Key Responsibilities



  • Seeks opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere.
  • Operates check stand equipment, such as cash registers, scanners, and scales, to process customer orders using two aisles to check customers.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Processes monetary transactions, including cash, checks, gift certificates, travelers checks, food stamps, processing coupons, and refunds, while adhering to Cash Handling and Lane Accountability policies and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of current product location, monitors UPC codes, and ensures proper pricing.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and properly stocked check stand and ensures a safe and secure work area.
  • Stocks, prices, and rotates merchandise as needed.
  • May be assigned to a multi-station self-checkout lane or customer service counter as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.


  • Follows all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items, such as tobacco and alcohol.
  • Adheres to all United States Department of Agriculture Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures.


Additional Requirements



  • As required by applicable state and local laws, food safety/handlers cards, tobacco and alcohol sales certification (e.g., TAM card).

For minors hired, hours may differ as well as machines and equipment operated.
