Our primary mission is to embed cybersecurity into the DNA of United Airlines by reducing business risk through the implementation of strong cybersecurity best practices.

Role and Responsibilities

The Responsible AI Senior Engineer will be responsible for implementing the security infrastructure and technological integrations to enable the needs of both Cybersecurity and its internal business partners. This includes ensuring that such infrastructure is secure by design and launching new tools and software for automating compliance within the scope of United's cybersecurity policies.

The Senior Engineer will focus on the implementation and ongoing maintenance of our evolving responsible AI systems and external software aimed at protecting customer data and reducing risk in compliance with external legal and regulatory guidelines. They will serve as key contacts within Cybersecurity responsible for the integration and upkeep, as well as support the Product owner as part of the product development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementation and administration of responsible AI centric APIs within our key systems and platforms
  • Developing and integrating Cybersecurity software with other parts of the business in conjunction with the development lifecycle, including new feature requests
  • Responding to break/fix requests specific to Generative AI applications/models/middleware, monitoring environment, and supporting Digital Technology in any evolution process for development, QA, and production environments
  • Responding to RAI outages and assisting in Generative AI incidents
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity or Computer Science (or other STEM related field)
  • 4+ years of proven experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Coveo, Copilot, Watson, GPT models, or other generative AI tools
  • A strong level of understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security as well as knowledge of security engineering and architecture concepts
  • Skill in navigating sophisticated system architecture across multiple development teams with the ability to partner to determine root cause, and work toward shared bug fixes
  • Understanding of policies that reflect Cybersecurity objectives. Ability to determine how a system works and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect these outcomes

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Masters Degree in Risk Management
  • 6+ years of proven experience in a related field
  • Any of the following certifications: CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIPP, CIPT
  • Knowledge of organizational standards and policies (ISO, NIST)
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations (SOX, PCI, FAA, GDPR, PII)
