Job Title: Procurement Lead

Job Summary

The Procurement Lead will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of buyers, purchasing officers, and related workers involved in purchasing all materials, products, and services. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to negotiate with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the cost-effective purchase and timely delivery of poly bags for the material produced at our sites.
  • Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Communicate with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
  • Prepare bid awards requiring approval.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.
Requirements
  • Up to 20% travel.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Master's degree (M.A.) a plus; or equivalent of five (5) years of progressive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous management experience in purchasing in production/manufacturing.
  • Former P & L experience is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership skills while maintaining a team atmosphere.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate with every level of the organization, internal customers, vendors, and clients effectively.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with abilities and knowledge of internet web-based management tools and Microsoft Office applications.
