Advanced Laboratory Associate

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Histology Technician to join our team on a permanent basis. As an Advanced Laboratory Associate, you will play a pivotal role in our laboratory operations, performing various histology tasks with precision and efficiency.

• Specimen Preparation: Perform specimen embedding and microtomy according to established protocols.
• Quality Control/Assurance: Participate actively in quality control/quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate results.
• Slide Management: File blocks and slides meticulously, maintaining organized documentation and facilitating slide distribution.
• Supply Inventory Management: Assist in supply inventory management and ordering processes as needed.
• Data Management: Utilize LIS (Laboratory Information System), Powerpath, and Omni-Trax proficiently for data management.
• Cryostat Operations: Operate the Cryostat effectively for the preparation of frozen sections.
• Maintenance of Equipment: Maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize various histology equipment, including tissue processors, staining machines, and others.
• Slide Labeling and Cover Slipping: Perform slide cover slipping and labeling with attention to detail.
• Special Staining Techniques: Execute H/E and special staining techniques and prepare solutions as required.

In this role, you will work closely with our team members and stakeholders to achieve accurate results and maintain high-quality standards. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience, ranging from $35 to $57 per hour, depending on your qualifications.

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

• A valid NYSDOH licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, Technician, or Technologist.
• An Associate's Degree from a relevant course of study as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements.
• High school diploma with designated experience defined by NYS and NYS licensure through the grandparenting pathway.
• At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
• Exposure to computer systems and proficiency in relevant software.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
