Summary:

To be eligible for this role, candidates must provide a comprehensive account of their experience and/or educational background that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.

Experience encompasses both paid and volunteer roles, including service through National Service programs and other organizations.

All relevant experience, including part-time and volunteer work, will be considered.

It is essential to clearly outline the duties and responsibilities held in each previous position, along with the total hours worked per week.

Current employees in this occupational series as of September 2017 are deemed to have satisfied the basic requirements for their current positions.

Education:

A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited nursing program is mandatory.

This educational background must have been accredited by recognized bodies at the time of degree conferral.



Foreign Nursing School Degree:
Certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for candidates who completed their education outside the United States.

Licensure:
All applicants must have successfully completed the National Council Licensure Examination and hold a current, unrestricted license as a professional nurse from a U.S. state or territory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-07: In addition to the Basic Requirements, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and qualify under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) provision.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in nursing with at least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-05 level.
  • Possess a diploma or associate degree in nursing with two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Complete at least one year of graduate education in a professional nursing program.

GS-09: Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Possess a master's degree in professional nursing.
  • Have at least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-07 level.

GS-10: Candidates must meet the following:
  • Have at least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-09 level.
