Job Summary

The Inspector Trainee will assist our experienced inspectors in performing technical engineering support tasks, including learning to inspect construction and maintenance projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in the field of construction inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and obtaining knowledge, qualifications, and required certifications for roadway and bridge construction inspection.
  • Perform daily assigned inspections and reports, and other tasks in a training capacity.
  • Inspect excavations, drainage structures, road surfaces, and structures to compare the work performed to plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of construction roadway or site inspection experience.
  • Ability to obtain certifications within 90 days of employment, including Pavement Marking - VDOT, GRIT, Intermediate Work Zone - VDOT, and Asphalt Field Levels I and II - VDOT.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • A motor vehicle operator's license, valid in the State of Virginia.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work day and night shifts, and weekends as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform essential duties, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 80 lbs.
