Tufts Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Inpatient Adult Physical Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Plan physical therapy programs for each patient, including exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
- Apply diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, and joint and functional ability tests.
- Direct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps, and inclined surfaces.
- Provide instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
- Adapt conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises.
- Conduct or participate in training medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
- Evaluate, record, and report on patient progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team.
- Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Maintain collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess the needs of patients of all different age populations to provide care appropriately.
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree.
- Have 1-2 years of experience in physical therapy or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be Board Certified and have the appropriate license.
