Job Summary:

City of Belen is seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/EMT to join our team. This individual will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, providing medical aid, and conducting fire suppression activities.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to emergency calls and provide medical aid to those in need
• Conduct fire suppression activities and rescue operations
• Perform daily equipment maintenance and inspections
• Participate in training exercises and drills to maintain and improve skills
• Collaborate with other emergency responders to ensure effective response

Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid New Mexico driver's license (obtain within 6 months of hire)
• AHA Healthcare Provider CPR and Incident Command Levels 100, 200, 700, and 800 required
• IFSAC Firefighter I certification required, Firefighter II certification preferred
• New Mexico EMT-Basic licensure required

Work Environment:

The Firefighter/EMT will work in a fast-paced emergency response environment, often under stressful conditions. The individual must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, work in extreme temperatures, and wear personal protective equipment for extended periods. Regular training and equipment inspections will ensure the individual is prepared to respond to emergency situations effectively.
