About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specialized Surgical Support: Provide specialized support to surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment.
  • Equipment Management: Set up and operate various types of equipment used during procedures, maintaining a high level of sterility and ensuring equipment is in good working condition.
  • Precepting and Training: Precept and train Surgical Technologists I, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet the necessary competencies.
  • Environmental Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, adhering to institutionally approved infection control policies.
  • Patient Care: Provide excellent patient care, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during surgical procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative staff, to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Experience: No experience required, but familiarity with various surgical procedures and equipment is preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 6 months of hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach above shoulders and twist frequently during work shifts.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.
