Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Membership Representative. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our members, guests, and program participants, contributing to member retention and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, and program participants, responding to their needs and promoting memberships and programs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lobby area, ensuring a positive first impression for our members and guests.
  • Conduct interviews and tours to prospective members, showcasing the benefits of YMCA membership.
  • Responsible for membership sales, renewals, and prospect follow-up, working closely with the Membership Director or Coordinator.
  • Build relationships with members, helping them connect with one another and the YMCA community.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure member satisfaction and provide a seamless experience.
Requirements
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires a person of maturity and good judgment, who can operate with minimum guidance from the Membership Director or Coordinator.
  • Requires ability to exercise independent judgment, assess facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding day-to-day operations.
  • Requires effective team-building and team-leadership skills, with the ability to maintain cooperative relationships with peers.
  • Must maintain a positive, energetic attitude toward YMCA work, goals, and values.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel applications.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, and stoop.
  • Maintain continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications.
