Job Title: Assistant Director of Patient Care

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Patient Care is a Registered Professional Nurse with broad knowledge and skills who acts as a clinical leader in the daily functioning of the unit and oversight of quality patient care delivery, in conjunction with or in the absence of the unit-based director of patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of clinical services by managing clinical and support staff.
  • Responsible and accountable for daily operations to achieve best practice and organizational objectives.
  • Implementation of the nursing and hospital strategic plan and standards of care and practice in accordance with regulatory requirements within the unit.
  • In conjunction with the director of patient care, develops, coordinates, integrates and oversees inter-disciplinary programs, monitors performance standards and existing practices, and development of new processes to improve organizational performance and staff competence.
  • Has strong knowledge of performance improvement and will manage/coordinate the activities of the Nursing Team to ensure patient care is provided in accordance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing educators to enhance professional development of nursing staff.
  • Evaluates staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines direct and indirect reports as needed.
  • Provides administrative and clinical oversight to ensure that all activity staffing, support services, interdisciplinary collaboration, resources and financial viability supports the goals of the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to promote patient care and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains a nursing unit in compliance with all regulatory agency mandates, including the regulations of NJ DOH all sites and The Joint Commission excludes LTC.
  • Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • NJ RN License.
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification.
  • Three to Five years of nursing experience.
  • Evidence of leadership ability.
  • Physical stamina and ability to safely lift and move objects and people.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or eligible. If not certified at hire, expectation to receive certification within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Pediatric nursing experience.
