Position Summary:

The Inventory Management Specialist plays a vital role within the Inventory team, tasked with overseeing and optimizing inventory controls across various departments to ensure precision in inventory records. This role encompasses the responsibility for the accuracy of all finished goods, raw materials, work in progress, packaging, and the proper handling of inventory across local facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and enhance inventory transactions across various functions including Receiving, Production, Shipping, and Customer Service.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory integrity, promptly addressing discrepancies such as aged or damaged products and transfer errors.
  • Prepare and present inventory accuracy reports for Senior Management, including daily and adjustment reports.
  • Assist in company initiatives for product donations and waste reduction by analyzing hold locations and product shelf life.
  • Coordinate and execute month-end inventory audits, resolving outstanding inventory issues and generating necessary reports.
  • Lead year-end inventory audits in collaboration with external auditors, ensuring thorough verification of physical inventory.
  • Guide and mentor Inventory Control clerical staff, providing training and delegating tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Educate other departments on inventory processes and compliance with inventory standards.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for inventory accuracy across all departments.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to address system errors and manage user access related to inventory functions.
  • Act as a power user for inventory systems, supporting improvements and testing program changes.
  • Assist Operational Supervision with various projects and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Business with 1-2 years of related experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience in inventory management preferred; experience in manufacturing or distribution is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a solid understanding of basic mathematics.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate stairs frequently.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
