Job Overview

As an Aquatic Safety Officer at Access Dubuque, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all individuals in the aquatic environment. Under the guidance of the Aquatics Director, you will foster a secure and welcoming atmosphere while upholding safe swimming practices in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. All candidates must possess current Lifeguard/First-Aid/AED/CPR certifications. Employees will also receive complimentary membership benefits.

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintain vigilant surveillance of the aquatic area.
  2. Familiarize yourself with emergency protocols and respond promptly to incidents in line with organizational guidelines; complete necessary documentation.
  3. Address challenges with effective solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Understand and consistently apply safety regulations and policies for the aquatic environment.
  5. Remain composed and objective under pressure or in challenging situations.
  6. Keep accurate records as mandated by the organization and relevant health authorities.
  7. Conduct equipment inspections and ensure availability of necessary resources.
  8. Assess the pool for safety hazards upon arrival.
  9. Perform chemical testing when not actively guarding, as required, and take appropriate measures.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum age of 16.
  2. Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED and first aid.
  3. Current Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
  4. Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
  5. Ability to maintain physical and mental readiness at certification level.
  6. Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with organizational standards.
  7. Participate and assist with other programs and volunteer opportunities.
