Job Overview

The Plastic Extrusion Technician will be responsible for operating and troubleshooting extrusion machinery to produce high-quality products that meet client specifications. This role involves maintaining production lines, addressing machine and material issues, setting up equipment, executing screen changes, preparing for changeovers, and assigning lot numbers. The ideal candidate must be capable of performing all required tasks and other duties as assigned.


Shift Details:

2nd Shift: 2:45 PM - 10:45 PM


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify work orders and specification sheets to determine necessary materials and measurements for order completion.
  • Calibrate and test machinery at the start of each shift to ensure optimal pressure, speed, temperature, and overall functionality.
  • Conduct visual inspections, weigh, and measure produced components weekly to ensure compliance with company and industry standards, making adjustments as required.
  • Collaborate with team members, shift supervisors, and relevant personnel to resolve any complications that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to identify and address equipment issues promptly.
  • Utilize approved cleaning solutions and tools to maintain and clean equipment on a bi-monthly schedule.
  • Perform necessary repairs on equipment and replace any defective or worn components.
  • Select and install cutters, molds, and other essential parts to ensure machines operate at peak efficiency.
  • The company reserves the right to modify or add duties as needed to meet business requirements.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with press and rotogravure printing.
  • Familiarity with adhesives and inks.
  • Understanding of extrusion machinery, including changeovers, adjustments, and cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of materials such as die, resin, and ink.
  • Awareness of measurements, temperatures, viscosity, and specifications relevant to materials used.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Understanding of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Leadership skills to guide team activities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Experience in leading teams in Industrial Vehicle Operator (IVO) Certification Training.
