Aquatic Safety Supervisor

Location: Fallbrook

Status: Part-Time

SUMMARY

The Aquatic Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a secure swimming environment in the pool, deck, and adjacent areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Maintains vigilant observation of the aquatic area.
  • Understands, applies, and enforces safety protocols and pool regulations consistently.
  • Familiar with all emergency protocols and reacts promptly to emergency situations in line with organizational policies.
  • Fosters effective communication and relationships with members, participants, and fellow staff.
  • Takes serious and confidential action regarding suspicious behaviors and adheres to reporting obligations related to misconduct.
  • Documents and informs the Director of incidents, member inquiries, equipment issues, and supply requirements.
  • Ensures that all procedures for opening and closing the aquatic area are thoroughly executed.
  • Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks in the pool area as instructed.
  • Records and monitors pool chemical levels, taking necessary actions as required.
  • Assists in managing party and rental programs as necessary.
  • Maintains required certifications as outlined under Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations.
  • Receives and executes instructions effectively.
  • Ensures consistent attendance and secures a substitute when unable to fulfill scheduled shifts, notifying the Director of any changes in advance.
  • Engages in additional activities that promote the health and well-being of staff and members, including housekeeping and sanitation tasks across all facilities.
  • Participates in special projects and other assigned duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, communicate, see, and hear effectively.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in performing rescue techniques.
  • Ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Competence in executing and completing essential lifeguarding skills and emergency drills as requested by a supervisor.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the organization's mission, values, and purpose, demonstrating this through supportive behavior and actions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Prior experience in aquatic environments is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certification as a Lifeguard from YMCA, Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.

CPR for Lifeguards, AED, and First Aid Certification through recognized organizations.
