We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery nurse to join our team at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in California. This is a travel nurse position that requires a strong background in L&D/PP nursing.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit, including delivering babies and caring for postpartum patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and excellent patient outcomes.
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and training to ensure proficiency in FetalLink and Cerner EMR systems.
- Float to Postpartum unit as needed, with a focus on providing excellent care to patients and families.
- Participate in call rotation and be available to work variable shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Active BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN, and CA License.
- 2-3 years of experience in L&D/PP nursing, with a strong background in high-risk deliveries and postpartum care.
- Experience with FetalLink and Cerner EMR systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Unit: Labor and Delivery/Postpartum.
- # L&D Beds: 7 beds.
- # Triage beds: 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds.
- # Postpartum beds: 27 beds with a 5-bed nursery.
- Ratios: Follow AWOHNN guidelines.
- FHM System: FetalLink - interacts with Cerner.
- EMR: Cerner.
- Nurse Aides/OB tech: OB techs will scrub in for c-sections, help with deliveries, stock supplies, and assist with patient intake.
- IV Team: No.
- RT 24/7: Yes.
- Scrub Color: Navy.
- Tele: Phillips.
- Vents: No.
- Floating: L&D will float to Postpartum, Postpartum will float to L&D, L&D nurses must have PP experience, PP nurses do not necessarily have PP experience, but will help in NICU or L&D with tasks in scope.
- Common diagnosis/types of patients: High-risk deliveries, any gestational age, EMT drop-offs, substance abuse - withdrawal, a lot of Spanish-speaking patients, no prenatal care, and transfers to UCLA or another facility if necessary.
