Amentum is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician IV to join our industrial maintenance team in Decatur, IL.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level maintenance services on facility mechanical equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
This includes diagnosing and troubleshooting ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, and other industrial machinery. Strong mechanical skills are essential for this role, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair facility mechanical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, blowers, and fans
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial doors, including those made by Rytek, DoorMan, Mega Door, DynaCo Doors, and similar manufacturers
- Troubleshoot and repair heat exchange equipment
- Perform basic pipefitting repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
- Assist in the movement of machines/fixtures, materials, and equipment as required
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Respond to work orders and provide service and feedback to customers while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems
- Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations
- Safely perform functions of the position, following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing PPE as required
- Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions
- Operate a variety of equipment, including hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware, to perform work
- Maintain a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment, while demonstrating flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of customers
- Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
