CDL A Delivery Truck Driver Trainee

Job Summary:

Sysco is seeking a CDL A Delivery Truck Driver Trainee to join our team. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary to become a dependable delivery partner. You will train for your Class-A CDL, including how to safely operate a tractor-trailer, to unload/deliver various products to an assigned route schedule, and build relationships with each customer using a positive, friendly attitude.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions
  • Constantly bending and twisting while loading and unloading product and retrieving items from the trailer
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Contact management for authorization when there are discrepancies on invoice and communicate all errors/returns
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies
  • Pickup, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Complete DOT logs (electronic or manual as required), company vehicle maintenance reports, and reconcile with appropriate company representative as required
  • Deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows. Immediately inform the management team of any deviations

Requirements:

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Must obtain a valid CDL Permit and DOT medical certification prior to pre-employment background check
  • Must submit to and pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)
  • Must obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within ninety (90) days of start date to remain actively employed
  • Must have one year Distribution/Warehouse experience or other military experience in lieu of

Working Conditions:

Must have schedule flexibility, including overtime hours, working weekends and holidays, and the ability to start and end at a variety of times to successfully meet customer needs.
