Residential Caregiver

Position: Houseparent (Adams Campus)
Objective: To collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment alongside various ministry components (Circle of Healing), aimed at nurturing and developing a well-rounded child. Key areas of focus include: Family Ministry, Education, Social Work/Counseling, Health/Nutrition, Spiritual Growth, and Higher Education/Independent Living. The Houseparent plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive home life, structure, and emotional needs for the children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as a vital member of the Circle of Healing Team to address the needs of children in care.
- Leverage personal and team strengths to assist Connie Maxwell children in realizing their aspirations through a tailored approach.
- Oversee and provide care for children residing in the cottage.
- Establish and uphold daily routines within the cottage.
- Facilitate transportation for youth as needed.
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals.
- Create a safe and nurturing atmosphere for children in care.
- Encourage positive relationships and behaviors among children and adults.
- Offer appropriate guidance and discipline to children.
- Support the spiritual development of children in a Christian context.
- Instruct children in essential, age-appropriate life skills.
- Embrace a family-centered philosophy in all interactions.
- Engage in ongoing personal and professional development, enhancing job skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the achievement of Connie Maxwell's objectives.
- Aim for recognition on the annual 'Gold Star' list.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a college degree is preferred.
- Experience working with children in various settings is essential; prior experience in childcare is advantageous.
- Basic home management skills are required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities are necessary.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Possess effective supervisory and parenting skills.
- Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children is crucial.
- Capability to set realistic expectations for children.
- Experience in implementing Behavior Support Plans.
- Ability to teach life and relational skills to children.
- Dependable, accessible, and adaptable to various situations.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing work conditions.
- Energetic and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Proactive and capable of making informed decisions.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and insurable by the organization's auto insurance.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.

Work Environment:
- Requires a flexible, rotating work schedule with several days on and off each week (on-campus living and working with students during the shift).
- Involves prolonged periods of walking, sitting, and standing.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
