Job Announcement:


Under general supervision, performs inspections, research, enforcement and follow up duties on various code and ordinance violations related to the maintenance of public health and safety.

Issues violation and correction orders and permits and licenses as appropriate.

The incumbent must be able to perform a full range of complex tasks within a framework of established procedures with only occasional instruction or assistance.

Reports to the Code Enforcement Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct thorough inspections of properties to identify and document code and ordinance violations.

• Research and analyze data to determine the best course of action for addressing violations.

• Issue violation and correction orders, as well as permits and licenses as necessary.

• Collaborate with other city departments to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances.

• Develop and implement strategies to prevent future code and ordinance violations.

Requirements:


• Requires a vocational/technical diploma with training in health and nuisance codes and/or a minimum of three years of responsible health and safety inspections experience and/or building construction or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Must be licensed as a Code Enforcement Officer with the State of Texas.

• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
