Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist Float Specialist to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures, including radiographic imaging and assisting with procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging and Procedure Support
    • Position patients and adjust equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures and protocols
    • Instruct patients regarding procedures and observe patients for vital signs during examination
    • Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment
    • Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis
    • Examine radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion
  • Procedure Assistance
    • Assist with procedures, including epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, caudal injections, neurotomy, port placement, cholangiograms, urology surgeries, and ortho surgeries
    • Operate C-arm to provide assistance to physicians during procedures
  • Quality Control and Patient Care
    • Perform quality control of images on DR/CR machine and Stentor
    • Check to ensure all information (images and paperwork) is complete for radiologists
    • Authorize release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination
    • Release radiologic images to patients in the form of a CD or printed paper
  • Operational Support
    • Assist in ASC procedure room, including preparing procedure supplies and medications following infection control and sterile field procedures
    • Document details and events during procedures
    • Clean and maintain equipment and work area
    • Maintain inventory and order supplies
  • Training and Development
    • Complete orientation and training specific to ASC duties
    • Participate in ASC meetings and huddles
    • Participate in training employees and student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Graduate of AMA-approved school of Radiological Technology
  • Current ARRT certification
  • Active WA state license or pending application
