Job SummarySouthern Manufacturing Technologies is seeking a skilled Dimensional Inspector to join our team. As a Dimensional Inspector, you will be responsible for performing visual and dimensional inspections on precision machined components and assemblies to ensure product meets quality standards. You will work from verbal or written instructions, quality standards, and/or other quality documentation to inspect parts that are in-process, at receiving, and at final inspection. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in maintaining inspection records and documentation, initiating corrective action requests, and providing on-the-job training. If you have a strong background in mechanical inspection and are proficient in using a variety of gages, including calipers, micrometers, micro-hites, optical comparators, CMM's, etc., we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections on precision machined components and assemblies to ensure product meets quality standards.
  • Work from verbal or written instructions, quality standards, and/or other quality documentation to inspect parts that are in-process, at receiving, and at final inspection.
  • Maintain inspection records and documentation.
  • Initiate corrective action requests.
  • Provide on-the-job training.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean manner and ensure that all equipment is handled and stored properly such that it will be protected from damage when not in use.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5 years' experience performing mechanical inspection in a precision machining environment.
  • Capable of using a variety of gages, including but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, micro-hites, optical comparators, CMM's, etc.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure quality and delivery requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T.
  • Clear communication skills (oral and written).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an ISO 9001/AS9100 environment.
  • Experience with Keyence IM Series.
  • Experience with OGP Flash.
  • Experience with MCOSMOS and MiCAT Planner.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have your own calipers and 0-1" micrometers.
  • Must wear OSHA approved safety shoes.
  • Must wear ANSI Z-87.1-2010 Impact Rated safety glasses.
  • Must wear current vision prescription, if required.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
