**Job Summary**

The Community-Based Specialist utilizes the Homebuilders Model to provide families with a wide array of services to equip and support family members with the necessary tools to prevent out-of-home placement or reunification services. This role involves implementing an evidence-based model, utilizing training and supervision guidance.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Teach essential skills through direct methods, including presentation, modeling, role-playing, constructive feedback, coaching, praising, and encouraging.
  • Develop an understanding of systems that serve families, including legal, social services, healthcare, and school systems.
  • Consult and advocate with other service providers as needed to help family members achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with children, youth, and families as a partner to successfully accomplish goals developed by the family to move them toward their vision of success.

**Requirements**

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human service field.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related human service field with at least 2 years of direct social service experience.
  • A belief system and engagement in faith practices compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
  • Ability to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual preferred.
