About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Pharmaceutical Specialist at PharMerica. Our company is a non-retail pharmacy that focuses on providing exceptional customer service and meeting the pharmacy needs for hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care centers, and other specialized care centers nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration.
  • Maintain patient/resident database to include current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication.
  • Ensure laboratory tests for monitoring high-risk conditions are ordered, evaluated, and discussed with the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide clinical and technical support as needed.
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team in the medical record.
  • Implement policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution, and use of drugs and biologicals.
  • Obtain and maintain required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies and policy.
  • Inform the Pharmacy Manager of medication-related errors.
  • Assist facility/agency staff with procedures relating to safe and effective methods of procuring, maintaining, administering, and disposing of drugs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy; Pharm D preferred.
  • One year experience in long-term care.
  • Licenses/Certifications: As required by government regulations and business needs.
  • Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, team player, and excellent oral communication skills.
