Job Summary

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team at Frye Regional Medical Center, supporting the facility Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation and Maintenance: Oversees the operations of the Accounting/Finance Department, including financial statement preparation, maintenance, and accuracy of the general ledger, internal audit, and SOX control.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Implements and adheres to regulatory, GAAP, and other changes that affect the accounting cycle, providing timely and effective service to both internal and external customers.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensures compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures, and ensures internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls.
  • Financial Close and Analysis: Ensures the monthly close deadlines are timely met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed, prepares various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and assists in various projects as requested.
  • Financial Risk Management: Assists with the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment, and monitoring of mitigation plans, and with the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Assists with the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts.

Requirements
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, with a CPA designation or an advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive financial healthcare or equivalent experience in general accounting, financial systems, financial statement preparation, review, and analysis, multi-discipline management experience, ethics, and excellent communication skills.
