Pediatric ER Physician

Job Summary
The Pediatric ER/Hospitalist Physician will provide clinical services to pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary environment. This role offers exposure to a mix of general and high acuity pediatric patients, with opportunities to participate in research and publishing. The position also includes teaching and supervision of medical residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and treatment.
- Continuously self-educate through reading journals, CME credits, and conferences.
- Develop and deliver monthly inservices to meet staff and resident development needs.
- Coordinate follow-up of tests, lab studies, and patient follow-up phone calls.
- Provide direct clinical services to patients, including history and physical examinations, patient/parent teaching, and administering medications as required.
- Participate in Performance Improvement, Research, and Publishing.
- Participate in teaching of and be a role model to medical students and residents.
- Participate in the call schedule as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
- Current state medical license and in good standing with the medical board.
- American Heart Association BLS certification, maintained active and in good standing throughout employment.
Requirements
- Exceptional clinical, research, and teaching skills, with a commitment to academic pediatrics.
- Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.
- Ability to problem solve to formulate a plan of care and evaluate the patient's response to care.
About the Role
This is a part-time, variable shift position at Nicklaus Children's Health System. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to academic pediatrics.
