Job Summary:

The Government Jobs is seeking a highly skilled Psiyhiatric Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Department, you will be responsible for providing direct psychiatric care and treatment to patients with complex and difficult disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine therapeutic and medical needs, and develop treatment plans.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, formulate diagnoses, and determine therapeutic and medical needs of patients.
  • Prescribe treatment and medications as needed.
  • Provide direction and training to assigned staff, interns, and/or residents.
  • Participate in staff, intern, and/or resident training and quality assurance.
  • Develop, follow, and instruct others in appropriate medical protocols.
  • Perform detailed patient record documentation, including intake and discharge summaries, clinical and progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Provide expert witness court testimony and consultation to various child and adult service programs and agencies.
  • Serve on utilization review, quality assurance, and other committees as defined in by-laws.

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to graduation from an American Medical Association certified school of medicine or osteopathy in good standing, and successful completion of an approved residency.
  • Valid US driver's license upon date of application.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California and board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.

Working Conditions:

  • Employees work in an office, out-patient, clinic, jail or juvenile facility environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
  • Employees may interact with clients with behavioral disorders/erratic and assaultive behavior, including those which require emergency crisis intervention.
