Job Overview

As a Precision CNC Operator at Evans Precision Machining, Inc., you will be responsible for producing high-quality machined components by programming, setting up, and operating advanced computer numerical control (CNC) machinery. Familiarity with Haas vertical machining centers and their controls is advantageous. You will also be tasked with upholding stringent quality and safety standards while ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machining Planning: Analyze work orders, blueprints, engineering specifications, and machining parameters to plan machining operations effectively. This includes interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

2. Machine Programming: Input machine instructions, including establishing zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation, as well as calculating machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. Proficiency in reading and understanding G-code is essential.

3. Machine Setup: Install and adjust tools, attachments, collets, and bushings, ensuring proper alignment and setup of the machine.

4. Quality Verification: Confirm settings by measuring positions and evaluating first-run parts and sample workpieces to adhere to quality standards.

5. Safety Compliance: Maintain safe operations by strictly following safety procedures and regulations.

Additional Duties

- Develop new CNC programs based on engineering drawings and models.

- Modify and adapt existing programs for various machines.

- Experience in machining diverse metal alloys, including aluminum, stainless steel, inconel, and copper.

- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code is required.

- Proficient in GD&T and capable of manual program adjustments on the shop floor for optimization.

- Experience with Mastercam software is necessary.

- Familiarity with Haas machines is a plus, and experience with 5-axis machining is also beneficial.
