NSIS Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled NSIS Supervisor to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our FS/QA team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality assurance in our harvest processing operations.

• Conduct routine sanitation checks to ensure compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations
• Provide technical expertise to track product from start to finish and develop corrective actions as needed
• Ensure overall regulatory, procedural, policy, and work instruction compliance in barn and harvest areas
• Train and coach sorters to recognize and identify diseases, consumer concerns, and contamination in pork/swine
• Manage NSIS and communicate with NSIS sorters, area supervision, and USDA officials to ensure accurate inspection, disposition, and documentation of hogs and harvested swine

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (food safety, quality assurance, harvest processing, or USDA inspection)
• 2+ years' experience in a related field, with experience acting as a lead and providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff
• Working knowledge of meat processing, USDA, HACCP, and SSOP requirements
• HACCP Certified, preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The work environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
