Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Responsibilities:- Direct Patient Care: Assist and support the Professional Registered Nurse in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Admission, Transfer, and Discharge: Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge process, ensuring a smooth transition for patients and families.
- Vital Signs and Monitoring: Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and blood pressure for adults and neonates.
- Medication Administration: Assist with medication administration, including capillary blood glucose monitoring and phlebotomy.
- Wound Care and Dressing: Apply dressings to Stage I and Stage II skin breakdown, and assist with wound care and dressing changes.
- Patient Safety and Comfort: Ensure patient safety and comfort by applying comfort and safety measures, such as side rails and call lights.
- Communication and Documentation: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and document patient information accurately and timely.
- Environmental Services: Maintain a safe and clean environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces, and restocking supplies.
- Supply Management: Order and stock supplies, and manage inventory to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain equipment, including cardiac monitors and oxygen therapy equipment.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement activities, including data collection and analysis, and implement changes to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Certification: Current CNA certification or enrollment in a nursing program with completion of basic clinical rotations.
- CPR and BLS: Current CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
