Diesel Mechanic Job Description

First Student is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Assist with mobile emergency services as needed
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed
  • At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program
