Epic Travel Staffing is seeking a dedicated Travel RN for the Pulmonary Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves working night shifts, specifically from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, on a 12-hour schedule with a commitment of 48 hours per week, although 36-hour options may be considered.
Contract Length:
13 to 26 weeks with a requirement of 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period, though additional shifts may be necessary based on staffing needs.
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina nursing license
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification preferred
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, and CPAP/BiPAP usage
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Willingness to float to similar units as required
Unit Details:
The PCU operates with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, accommodating a mixed acuity patient population including those with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, and COVID-19. The unit is equipped with 48 beds and provides care for patients requiring advanced respiratory support, including ventilators for chronic conditions.

Recognizing the high acuity of the unit, additional resources include:

- Assistant Nurse Manager
- Vascular Access Team
- Rapid Response Team
- Code Team
- Behavioral Health Team
Special Equipment:
- Chest tubes
- Infusion pumps for medications such as Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin
Scheduling Flexibility:
The unit can accommodate block scheduling and offers a comprehensive orientation program lasting 24 hours.
Compensation and Benefits:
Epic Travel Staffing provides competitive pay rates, estimated at $2475 per week, alongside health insurance coverage from day one, a 401(k) matching program, and a concierge state licensing program for RNs across multiple states.
