Hearing Care Provider Trainee
Overview:
The Hearing Care Provider Trainee Program is tailored for individuals aspiring to become professionals in hearing healthcare, focusing on comprehensive patient evaluation, education, and treatment of hearing loss.
The Trainee will engage in the HearingLife Training Program to acquire the essential skills needed to become a Hearing Care Provider and secure the necessary state licenses.
This program encompasses both virtual and in-person classroom instruction, practical lab experiences, and mentorship alongside a licensed Hearing Care Provider.
The Trainee will adhere to a structured curriculum and benefit from the guidance and support of their designated Preceptor. A detailed outline of the training program and the required steps is provided. On average, the Trainee Program spans 6 months, though this duration may extend up to a year based on state regulations.HearingLife Training Program Overview:
- Training Permit: The Trainee must obtain a training license for their state of study at the program's commencement.
- Clinical Introduction – The program kicks off with a Clinical Introduction Week, establishing a foundation of clinical competencies. This week includes instructional sessions, live demonstrations, self-guided labs, and Preceptor-led labs. A hands-on Clinical Skills Check will be conducted at the end of this week to assess the skills acquired.
- In-Clinic Practice with Direct Supervision – After the Clinical Introduction Week and successfully passing the Clinical Introduction Skills Check, the Trainee will begin hands-on work in the clinic under the mentorship of the Preceptor. This experience will help the Trainee build confidence and proficiency in their skill set. In-clinic practice with Direct Supervision will continue until the Trainee successfully completes the HearingLife Clinical Certification. The Trainee Learning Plan will guide the skills to be developed.
- Monthly Skills Development Measure: The Trainee will complete a monthly assessment to track the advancement of clinical skills.
- Weekly Clinical Hours Log: The Trainee is expected to log a minimum of 18 clinical hours each week.
- Weekly Learning Summary: The Trainee will submit a summary of their learning and clinical experiences each week.
- Regular Meetings: Periodic meetings with the Clinical Training Team will be held to ensure ongoing progress.
- Distance Learning Program: 12-week virtual coursework will cover essential concepts and principles to lay the groundwork for becoming a Hearing Care Provider. Each week will introduce new topics with associated assessments to validate understanding. Additional virtual courses may be assigned to support mastery of content in preparation for clinical practice and licensing examinations.
- Clinical Certification: Upon completing hands-on training and demonstrating proficiency in each clinical skill, a Clinical Certification will be conducted to ensure mastery of all clinical concepts. After passing the Clinical Certification, the Trainee will be qualified to see patients independently, in accordance with state licensing laws.
- Licensing and Exams – Following the HearingLife Clinical Certification, the Trainee may undertake state and/or national licensing examinations as mandated by their state. Each exam may be attempted twice. Transitioning to a permanent Hearing Care Provider role is contingent upon obtaining the required licenses.
- Practical Exam – hands-on evaluation of clinical skills.
- State Dependent – not all states require a practical exam.
- Written Exam – most states utilize the ILE (International Licensing Exam).
- Certain states have their own independent exams.
- Hearing Health Academy: A series of classes designed to support the learning of business principles that are foundational for delivering exceptional patient care. The ATRT program aims to enhance operational excellence within each clinic across the network. Upon successful completion of the Clinical Academy and after obtaining state licensure, each Provider is expected to collaborate with their People Leader and enroll in the ATRT Academy within the first 60 days following licensure.
- Attendance: Attend all assigned sessions punctually with full virtual accessibility.
- Prework Completion: Complete all prework and submit applied learnings by the designated due date.
- Active Participation: Engage actively in discussions and collaborate with peers throughout the course.
- Role Play Demonstration: Successfully demonstrate role play scenarios related to patient care and treatment recommendations, culminating in a final live certification in the PSP (Professional Sales Presentation).
