We are seeking a highly skilled Textile Technologist to join our team at the U.S. Marine Corps. As a key member of our Clothing and Equipment Team, you will be responsible for supporting the development of product specifications and technical documentation in support of textile technology programs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and analysis to improve ballistic, flame-resistant, and other fabrics of interest for military applications.
- Support the development of products, specifications, and technical documentation in support of textile technology programs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, track, or mitigate technical risks for military clothing and body armor acquisition programs.
- Provide customer support and problem-solving expertise to textile and fabric users, manufacturers, and stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience must demonstrate the following: Supporting the development of product specifications and other technical documentation in support of textile technology programs; or conducting fabric and textile component testing to support Research & Development or current textile-based acquisition programs.
- Degree: textile technology.
- Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in textile technology that included at least 20 semester hours in textile technology and closely related subjects, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
