Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient Services Full Time, Various Shifts
Key Responsibilities:

Acquires proficiency in the distribution and administration of pharmaceuticals. This encompasses gaining familiarity with the department's information systems, technological tools, and automation utilized for the dispensing and storage of medications.

Attains skills in the preparation of non-sterile compounds in accordance with USP, state, and federal guidelines, as necessary.

Gains expertise in processing medication orders through the computer system and managing medication requests efficiently.

Handles communications from clients and team members, including healthcare professionals and patients. This involves accurately interpreting issues, ensuring timely resolutions, or appropriately directing inquiries to other team members.

Demonstrates knowledge of pharmacy protocols and documentation as required, adhering to legal, regulatory, and departmental standards of pharmacy practice.

Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including but not limited to controlled substance protocols, USP guidelines, and DNV standards.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Licensure (IL only): State of Wisconsin (registration):

Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student; Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of employment, or sooner if mandated by law. Must attempt the certification examination at least once within the first year of employment.

Team members interacting with patients may be required to obtain two certifications: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable, granted by the state of WI or, if from out of state, the program must be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or approved by the WI Pharmacy Examining Board.

Education Required:

High School Diploma.

Experience Required:

No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Strong mathematical skills.

Attention to detail.

Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities.

Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Operates all necessary equipment to fulfill job duties.

Frequent fine motor movements of hands and wrists for keyboard operation and syringe manipulation.

Lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while employing proper techniques.

Must be capable of lifting up to 35 lbs., carrying up to 35 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance, and exerting 30 lbs. of force to push/pull.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl, and reach above shoulder height.

Must possess functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing abilities.

May encounter chemical hazards.
