Job Summary:

The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the tax compliance function and tax accounting function, including tax research and planning. This role requires staying up-to-date with changes in tax law and identifying tax issues and opportunities. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage tax filings, provisions, and forecasts for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Ensure timely completion and remittance of tax filings in accordance with internal and external deadlines
  • Perform tax research and planning functions
  • Manage federal and state/local examinations
  • Provide direction and guidance to other Tax Staff
  • Stay informed of changes in tax law and communicate impacts to relevant parties
Requirements:

I. Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Preferred: Master's degree in business administration or taxation

II. Experience:

  • Required: 7 years in tax accounting compliance and planning
  • Required: Experience in leading projects of varying size and complexity
  • Preferred: Experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
  • Preferred: Statutory accounting experience and knowledge of insurance taxation

III. License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Preferred: Licensed attorney or CPA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local taxes for various entity types
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong relationship building and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strategic thinking and proactive approach to creating trust with business units
