Job Summary

Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps is seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

The ideal candidate will have experience in performing radiation treatments on patients, conducting patient assessments, and assisting in the handling of radioactive sources and the operation of therapeutic equipment.

Madigan Army Medical Center is one of four Level II Trauma Centers in Washington State and participates in partnerships with civilian facilities to provide care to non-beneficiary trauma victims.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and conducting evaluations of work operations involving potentially hazardous environmental conditions.
  • Identifying and evaluating conditions that may be hazardous to workers' health.
  • Assessing workplace hazards and collecting samples.
  • Developing contingency plans for industrial accidents.
  • Developing processes and procedures for occupational health controls.
  • Checking data entered into the Defense Occupational Health and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) central database.

Additional responsibilities may include performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements listed below.

Basic Requirements for Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist:

  • Qualifying educational programs for radiography and radiation therapy technology are available in accredited colleges, universities, hospitals, medical schools, or postsecondary technical or vocational schools.
  • Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards of 42 CFR Part 75.

Specialized Experience:

  • One year of specialized experience performing radiation treatments on patients, conducting patient assessments, assisting in the handling of radioactive sources, and operating therapeutic equipment.

Education:

  • Two and a half years of graduate-level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as radiation therapy.

Combination of Education and Experience:

  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
