Mammography Imaging Specialist

The Mammography Technician is a vital member of our team at the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities through mammographic imaging studies. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and excellent patient interaction skills.

• Conduct mammography studies by positioning breasts, adjusting compression mechanisms, and instructing patients to hold their breath.
• Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
• Maintain production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures.
• Ensure operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
• Keep mammography supplies and patient drapes ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and collecting and processing laundry.
• Document patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in mammography technology and best practices by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
• Mammographic Radiologic Technology certification.
• Able to operate sophisticated computer equipment, interact compassionately and effectively with patients, and communicate effectively.
