Job Summary

The Registered Nurse primary duty is to assist the Radiation Oncologist with patient care. This role requires assessing Oncology patients receiving radiation treatments, maintaining all nursing records for the Radiation Oncology Department, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist
  • Assist the Director and Lead Therapist with ongoing quality improvement
  • Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist and Radiation Therapists in developing patient plans of care
  • Complete nursing assessments and treatments prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, with appropriate documentation
  • Correctly and efficiently complete charting and paperwork
  • Facilitate and ensure patient/family education is provided
  • Participate and actively assist in the planning of staff development activities, including staff orientation, training, and evaluation
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations, with good working knowledge of emergency medications and CPR
  • Maintain an adequate level of supplies and the appearance of all technical areas within the Radiation Oncology Department
Requirements
  • Current California RN license
  • BCLS Certified
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurse preparation
  • Two years of experience in a Radiation Oncology Department as a Staff RN
