Part-time Hourly Bus Driver

Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a reliable and experienced part-time hourly bus driver to transport students and staff on field trips, job sites, and various outings. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our passengers while maintaining a clean and well-maintained vehicle.

Description of Duties

  • Enforce rules of conduct and respond to emergencies to maintain a safe environment within the bus.
  • Transport groups in accordance with normal school system and/or state regulations.
  • Meet state driver licensure requirements and obey all laws for operation of a school bus.
  • Primary driver for Georgia Mobile Audiology and truck locations within the state of Georgia.
  • Complete start-up and shut-down procedures, including setup and breakdown of stairs/railings/leveling, charging, checking gas, oil, water, and fluids levels.
  • Report mechanical defects to supervisor upon detection.
  • Operate school bus in transporting students and staff on field trips, job sites, and various outings.
  • Clean the bus at the end of each trip and stay with groups on all trips.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip safety and maintenance checks.
  • Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Complete records of all trips and submit them weekly.
  • May have some overnight stays during travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

  • At least 3 years of school bus driving experience.
  • Knowledge of basic motor vehicle and school bus operation.
  • Knowledge of school bus safety policies and procedures.
