About the Role

Voyant Beauty is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Facility Mechanic to join our team in the Tank Farm Operations department. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our tank farm facilities, including the unloading of solvent tanker trucks and rail cars, verifying material receipts, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Unload Solvent and Propellant Materials: Safely unload solvent tanker trucks and rail cars, following established Work Instructions (WIs) and guidelines.
  2. Verify Material Receipts: Verify the accuracy of material receipts for railcars and tank trucks, reporting any discrepancies to the inventory clerk.
  3. Perform Routine Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of tank farm equipment, pumps, storage tanks, and piping, ensuring they are in good operating condition.
  4. Collect and Record Data: Collect and record data from scales, meters, and gauges in the tank farm area, sending out inventory reports on a daily basis.
  5. Report Safety Concerns: Report any safety concerns or issues with tank levels, pumps, or tanks to the facility maintenance department.
  6. Prepare Tank Farm for Shutdown/Startup: Assist in preparing the tank farm for long weekend shutdowns and startups.
  7. Maintain Solvent Tanks: Ensure solvent tanks are always full, allowing the compounding department to operate without interruption.
  8. Collaborate with Maintenance Team: Work with facility maintenance mechanics to maintain tank farm equipment and ensure smooth operations.
  9. Complete Administrative Tasks: Complete all necessary paperwork and administrative tasks related to the work being performed.
Requirements
  1. Education: High school diploma or higher level of education.
  2. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with fellow personnel verbally and in writing.
  3. Training and Certification: Complete training on all relevant SOPs and WIs within 90 days of taking on the position.
  4. Language and Arithmetic Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand English, with basic arithmetic skills and unit conversion proficiency.
  5. Industrial Experience: Prior industrial experience in tank farm operations is desirable.
  6. SDS Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Additional Requirements
  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use all required PPE at all times.
  2. OSHA Haz Com Training: Complete OSHA Hazard Communication Training.
  3. RCRA and SWPPP Training: Complete RCRA hazardous waste handling, SPCC, and SWPPP training.
  4. GMP Training: Complete GMP training and follow applicable SOPs.
  5. Housekeeping: Maintain good housekeeping in the tank farm area at all times.
  6. Storm Drain Protection: Protect all storm drains in the tank farm from chemical contaminants.
  7. Safety Observance: Observe all safety requirements and report any unsafe conditions to facility maintenance and/or the safety manager or head of engineering as needed.
  8. Emergency Response: Act as a guide for the Local Emergency Planning Committee in case of non-incidental emergency spills in the tank farm and compounding area.
  9. Forklift Operation: Operate a forklift truck as a certified driver.
  10. Tank Farm Emergency Shutdown: Operate the tank farm emergency shutdown system as needed.
  11. Incidental Spill Response: Respond to and clean up incidental spills in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  12. Tool Operation: Know how to use small hand tools.
Physical Requirements
  1. Lifting and Rolling: Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and roll up to 440 lbs using a pallet truck and other equipment.
  2. Prolonged Standing: Ability to stand outside for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Industrial Environment: Ability to work in an industrial environment.
