We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Composite Technologist to join our team at the Freedom Boat Club of Greater Boston and Cape Cod.
Marine Composite TechnologistThis is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in composite materials and repair techniques. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing high-quality repairs on fiberglass boat hulls and structures.
We are looking for someone with excellent craftsmanship skills and a strong attention to detail. If you have experience working with gel coat, resin, and other composite materials, we want to hear from you
- Perform repairs on fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and other structures, including gel coat repairs, structural repairs, and cosmetic refinishing.
- Inspect damaged boats to determine the extent of damage and the best repair methods. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues accurately.
- Prepare surfaces for repair by cleaning, sanding, and masking as necessary. Ensure all surfaces are properly prepped to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Apply fiberglass matting, resin, and gel coat to repair damaged areas. Ensure proper curing and finishing techniques are used to match the original appearance and strength.

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fiberglass repair, preferably in a marine environment.
- Proficient in fiberglass repair techniques, including gel coat application, sanding, and finishing. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Understanding of marine safety standards and repair procedures. Familiarity with various types of fiberglass materials and resins.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, ascend/descend a ladder and work in various weather conditions. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are essential.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
