POSITION SUMMARY

The Precision Finishing Specialist is tasked with eliminating sharp edges and achieving consistent finishes on machined components using sanders, grinders, and various hand tools. This role requires adherence to proper finishing techniques while maintaining quality and productivity standards in a safe manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute finishing operations on a diverse range of components, ensuring adherence to quality parameters and minimizing waste.
  • Develop finishing strategies utilizing appropriate tools to meet specified finish requirements, interpreting process drawings and documentation accurately.
  • Employ a comprehensive array of finishing equipment and hand tools to achieve daily production goals, ensuring all finished parts meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the finishing process, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Interpret various finish specifications and engineering drawings to guide operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including regular cleaning and upkeep of the work area.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions.
  • Accurately complete all job-related documentation and data collection.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Quality Management System.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend technical documentation; proficiency in computer use and blueprint reading is essential.
  • Physically capable of performing routine and strenuous tasks with full range of motion.

DESIRED:

  • 1-3 years of experience in grinding within a precision manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with deburring and finishing tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, is advantageous but not mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Approximately 5% of the time is spent seated, while 95% involves active movement throughout the work area.
  • Regularly lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess dexterity to handle tools and equipment effectively.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English, with clear communication skills necessary for interaction with clients, vendors, and colleagues.

VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary for effective use of computer screens and reading documentation.

The working conditions are typical for a manufacturing environment, with potential for occasional weekend or evening shifts.
