CDL Driver Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and experienced CDL Driver to join our team at Western News & Info Inc. As a CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting commercial printing, newsprint, and equipment to our drop sites within the Phoenix Metro area and surrounding regions.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver products, newsprint, and equipment in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations.

2. Conduct thorough checks of skids and cartons prior to shipment, verifying labeling and skid or carton preparation.

3. Maintain open communication with the production manager regarding status updates, progress, and any unusual issues that may arise.

4. Assist in verifying the accuracy of received products and resolving discrepancies.

5. Collaborate with the post office representative to certify TMC mailing.

6. Maintain all necessary paperwork and adhere to regulations for a Commercial Drivers License.

7. Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks within the facility.

8. Collect and route documentation of shipped freight to the proper recordkeeping unit.

9. Operate forklift, clamp truck, shrink-wrapping machine, and pallet jack after certification.

10. Maintain company vehicles, keeping accurate maintenance and driver logs.

11. Possess a good driving record and maintain a current CDL license with an unexpired Driver's Medical Examiner's Certificate.

12. Comply with electronic logging device (ELD) regulations for accurate hours of service recording.

13. Provide exceptional customer service, exceeding expectations in a courteous and professional manner.

14. Demonstrate basic knowledge of office equipment, including computers, email, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.


Additional Responsibilities:

1. Participate in company safety policies and procedures.

2. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing customer service-related duties as needed.

3. Cross-train in other jobs for backup purposes and related duties assigned by management.

4. If the position requires driving, provide a valid driver's license and necessary auto insurance.


Requirements:

1. Must be 18 years of age or older.

2. High School diploma or equivalent.

3. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend basic instructions verbally and in writing.

4. Good judgment and decision-making ability, both written and oral, are essential.

5. Past experience with shipping and receiving operations is helpful.

6. Confidentiality is a must.

7. Excellent customer service skills are required.

8. Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands of the job may include bending, sitting, standing, lifting, climbing, and driving.

1. Ability to lift a minimum of 70lbs.

2. Climbs ladder up to 25 feet.

3. Must be able to sit in vehicles for extended periods.
