Summit Medical Group is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant / Lab Processor to join their team. This role involves working in the on-site laboratory to collect and test specimens, with a focus on phlebotomy and specimen processing.
Key Responsibilities:- Adhere to established policies and procedures, including OSHA and CLIA, and company protocols.
- Perform phlebotomy for patients scheduled for laboratory tests in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
- Promptly attend to specimens received in the laboratory, processing STATs in a timely manner and delivering to the technologist for testing.
- Notify supervisors of problems related to processing.
- Answer telephone requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Process, order, and release tests in the laboratory information system (LIS) with minimal errors.
- Label specimens accurately and route them to the appropriate laboratory testing area.
- Prepare specimens to be sent to outside reference laboratories.
- Complete 'testing issues' and handle them appropriately.
- Scan in specimens and requisitions into the scanning systems.
- Leave work areas clean and organized, promptly cleaning up specimen spills according to OSHA guidelines.
- Interact in a cooperative manner with supervisors, coworkers, physicians, and the public.
- Adhere to all aspects of the corporate compliance program.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Participate in site-level Quality Improvement Activities.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required.
- One year of medical office/clinical experience with phlebotomy preferred.
