Job Summary

Summit Medical Group is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant / Lab Processor to join their team. This role involves working in the on-site laboratory to collect and test specimens, with a focus on phlebotomy and specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures, including OSHA and CLIA, and company protocols.
  • Perform phlebotomy for patients scheduled for laboratory tests in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
  • Promptly attend to specimens received in the laboratory, processing STATs in a timely manner and delivering to the technologist for testing.
  • Notify supervisors of problems related to processing.
  • Answer telephone requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process, order, and release tests in the laboratory information system (LIS) with minimal errors.
  • Label specimens accurately and route them to the appropriate laboratory testing area.
  • Prepare specimens to be sent to outside reference laboratories.
  • Complete 'testing issues' and handle them appropriately.
  • Scan in specimens and requisitions into the scanning systems.
  • Leave work areas clean and organized, promptly cleaning up specimen spills according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Interact in a cooperative manner with supervisors, coworkers, physicians, and the public.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the corporate compliance program.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Participate in site-level Quality Improvement Activities.
Requirements:
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required.
  • One year of medical office/clinical experience with phlebotomy preferred.
