About the Role:

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Perioperative Technician to join our team. As a key member of our surgical department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients to designated areas in the facility, working closely with nursing staff to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Offer comfort and support to patients and their families, promoting a positive and compassionate care environment.
  • Organize and complete work in a timely and professional manner, adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform stocking of nurse servers in patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis.
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment as needed, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
  • Order departmental non-medical supplies as required, maintaining a well-stocked and efficient environment.
  • Assist with maintenance of scheduling and various operational processes as directed by Supervisor/Manager.
  • Setup/cancel patient appointments as directed, ensuring accurate and timely scheduling.
  • Transport patients, blood, specimens, and other items as needed, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Notify licensed personnel when patients complain of pain or vital signs are outside acceptable ranges.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate observed changes in patient status and responses to RNs, maintaining awareness of patient needs.
  • Provide explanations to patients and families prior to administering care, answering questions within scope of practice.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with nurse, coworkers, and physicians, promoting a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations, prioritizing patient care and safety.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety, adhering to universal precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly, ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing risk.
  • Be attentive to call lights and patient needs within scope of practice, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrate use of universal precautions at all times, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Adhere to dress code, appearance, and facility standards, promoting a professional and respectful image.
  • Complete annual education requirements, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and technologies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, respecting patient rights and dignity.
  • Report to work on time when scheduled, completing work within designated times and adhering to attendance policies.
  • Wear identification while on duty, using computerized punch time systems correctly.
  • Attend annual review and department in-services, as scheduled, staying informed and engaged with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Attend at least 85% of staff meetings annually, reading monthly staff meeting minutes to stay informed and engaged.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner, promoting a positive image and reputation.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement and quality improvement activities, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Complete in-services and return in a timely manner, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and technologies.
  • Required to check emails and be responsible for its content at least once per week, staying informed and engaged with hospital communications.
  • Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality, complying with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate, exceeding patient expectations.
  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
