Job Opportunity at Queens Community House

We are seeking a qualified Substitute English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) Teacher to join our team at Queens Community House. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching adults and experience with integrating technology into classroom instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach ESOL and ABE classes to adult immigrant students in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students and align with the program's goals.
  • Use technology to enhance instruction and engage students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Adult Education Manager, and Case Manager to ensure successful achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Take attendance and maintain accurate student records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching adults in an ESOL/ABE/GED teaching environment.
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism with dealing with an adult population.
  • Ability to teach in-person in Queens and have flexibility to move online if needed.
  • Experience with integrating technology into classroom instruction and supplemental learning outside of a classroom setting.
