About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our patient food service department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of service and sanitation for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food to patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining a high level of service and sanitation.
  • Follow patients' menus accurately on the serving line and serve in the cafeteria and grill.
  • Prepare salads, coffee, and desserts in accordance with meal schedules.
  • Deliver food carts to designated places and ensure carts are returned to the kitchen.
  • Wash dishes, cookware, flatware, and trays using approved procedures.
  • Maintain clean wash and rinse water, adding the designated sanitizing agent to the final rinse.
  • Set up counter, beverage system, coffee, grill, steam table, condiment station, and serving line.
  • Cook and serve grilled items according to customer requests.
  • Follow proper cash handling procedures when working the cafeteria register.
  • Ensure delivery of excellent customer service resulting in positive and improving patient satisfaction scores for the department and Medical Center.
  • Portion, serve, and replenish dessert, pastries, salads, hot foods, etc.
  • Replenish paper and silverware products.
  • Wrap, store, and date excess food and place in appropriate refrigerators.
  • Clean and maintain entire work area following service.
  • Clean all tables and chairs.
  • Assist with service and setting up for special meetings.
  • Relieve cafeteria personnel when necessary.
  • Deliver nourishment to nursing units as required.
  • Collect and remove trash and garbage to designated containers.
  • Clean work areas, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • At least six (6) months prior experience in a food service department preferred.
